In the 1940's, it was a favorite fishing spot for President Hoover, who paid $200 to have a cabin built on the property for his personal as well as public use.  That particular cabin was destroyed in a wind storm, but Cabin 1 sits in its place today. The resort has been operated by numerous families over the years, and enjoyed by generations of families and locals.
